Maintaining good health is too important to leave to casual planning, the occasional ‘program,’ or the newest fad. Instead, maintaining your health – the foundation upon which most of your life is built—should be a reasoned part of the way you live.

Dr. Alan Dappen, a family practice doctor in Vienna, Virginia and a Song Brown Fellow with a specialty in nutrition, says “75 percent of conditions that will kill you as you age are strokes (15 percent), heart attacks (35 percent), and cancer (25 percent). All of these killers have strong connections to nutrition and exercise.” Dr. Dappen says a huge part of your wellness is about taking responsibility for what you eat, how much you eat, and getting exercise. “Proper eating and adequate exercise – these two variables are absolutely linked to good health.”

The National Council Against Health Fraud (NCAHF) agrees and on its website states, “…it is excessive calories producing too much body fat (rather than dietary fat per se) that is associated with our high frequency of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer… Exercise, which also should be done in moderation with variety and balance, is inseparable from diet for good health.”
