Skinny Scams

With warmer weather in the forecast, we are entering the shorts and swimsuit season.  While it may be tempting to lose your winter weight in one big whoosh, many of the products that promise to slim you down quickly are nothing more than scams.

What do Skinny Products Promise to do?

Whether they come to you via spam e-mail, junk mail, or advertisements, skinny scams always claim that you can eat whatever you want to whenever you want to without exercising.  Common-sense, nutritional advice goes out the door with claims such as, "Eat everything you want and lose weight.  Cakes, chips, chocolate -  no problem!"  The advertisement may also promise an approximate weight loss of "between 4 and 5 lbs a week".   That type of continuous weight loss just isn't sensible!

Don't be fooled by clever words & testimonials:

  • Image"wash away fat in seconds"
  • Image"scientific breakthrough"
  • Image"exclusive product"
  • Image"secret formula"
  • Image"ancient ingredient"

Isn't there always a disclaimer?  The fine print is a legal way of saying, "You won't lose a lot of weight with this product."

  • Image"Results not typical"
  • Image"Your results may vary"

Play It Safe
