Work-at-Home Scams

Looking for a job? You've seen the ads that promise you'll earn several hundred or several thousand dollars a week doing a job in your home. All you have to do is buy one of their kits, and you'll be on your way to an easy, money-making business.
The FTC has named work-at-home pitches as one of the nation's top scams, according to The Wall Street Journal. The bottom line is that you make money by doing something that you already know how to do.
Play it Safe!
  • If they tell you to pay $30 or $60 for all of the supplies, it's most likely a scam.
  • Get a job on your own! If you really want to work from home, network by asking past employers for an opportunity to do the same work from a different location your home!
The Fraud of the Month is provided by the Washington Attorney General's Office,Consumer Protection Division.
