Viewing Flash Files with Internet Explorer 7 and Vista
Do you have Vista and IE 7? Are you having trouble viewing the flash quizzes on the website? Here are a few things you might try:
Flash Player and Windows Vista Fix
I installed Windows Vista Ultimate last weekend, and like many people I found that the flash player did not work on many sites including YouTube etc.
Well, the good news is I think I have the fix that many of you have been looking for:
I navigated my way to:
Computer >
C: Drive >
Windows >
System32 >
Macromed >
Flash >
Right-click over the file ‘Flash9b.ocx’ and chose ‘properties’.
In properties choose the ’security’ tab > Click on the ‘everyone’ account or your own Windows account profile, and the button called ‘edit’ and then tick the box called ‘allow full control’ and also choose your own Windows local account name to have full control.
Repeat this process for the file ‘FlashUtil9b.exe’.
Once you have done this for both files run the ‘FlashUtil9b.exe’ file and it should install and update, the computer will then tell you to restart. Do so and you should find that YouTube and other sites that use flash now work.
NOTE: You should have at least two files – “Flash9” and “FlashUtil9” followed by some letter. Could be a-z, so for example you might have “Flash9e.ocx” and “FlashUtil9e.exe”. The important thing is that they both end in the same letter and that there aren’t any additional ones with different letters anywhere in the same folder – if there are, take the ones with the letter that comes later in the alphabet and delete any others with different letters. You may also want to consider re-installing the flash player by clicking this link and clicking “install”:

IF YOU’RE STILL HAVING TROUBLE….
Update: Adobe Flash Windows Vista Fix
Some people are still having trouble using Flash in Windows Vista. I am getting masses of emails and comments about it, mostly [fortunately] to say a successful fix, but a few not. So here goes with another line of attach:-
Go to the Control Panel > Choose Programs & Features > look for anything which is called ‘Adobe Flash Player’ or ‘Macromedia Flash Player’ and uninstall it. Make sure Internet Explorer is closed before you uninstall.
Download and install Flash from the following link (this is a manual install and not the usual Adobe Flash installation (but it is dead easy to do!): Adobe Flash Player download
Then you must restart the machine. Again, some people seem to be putting their machine into sleep mode and not actually restarting the machine. To make sure you restart do the following:-
Press Start > The ‘>‘ arrow to the right of the padlock symbol > Choose Restart
If that still does not work for you try going to (in Internet Explorer):-
• Tools >
• Internet Options >
• Choose the Programs tab >
• press the manage ‘add-ons‘ button >
• In the window make sure that ‘Shockwave Flash object’ is enabled (enable/disable options are at the bottom of the window).
• Then OK your way out of the windows
• Close IE and then start it up and see what happens.
